Delete your data

Libut Café has no accounts today, so there’s no account to delete. Here’s how to delete everything else: what’s on your phone, and anything you’ve sent us.

Libut Café app, by Raiyan Asaral. No sign-in, no account. To delete reports or wall notes you’ve sent, email libutcafe@raiyanasaral.com. Anonymous usage counts can be switched off in About. Everything else lives on your phone and goes when you delete the app.

On your phone

Saved cafés, private notes, your caffeine diary and settings, the notes you’ve written and hidden on walls, and the stored café list are kept on your phone only. To remove them all, delete the app:

  • iPhone: touch and hold the Libut Café icon, then Remove App → Delete App. Also remove any Libut Café widgets.
  • Android: Settings → Apps → Libut Café → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall the app.

You can also remove single things in the app: unsave a café, delete a private note, or remove a drink from your caffeine diary.

What you’ve sent us

Two kinds of things reach us only when you send them (anonymous usage counts are covered below):

  • Reports: a suggested café, a correction, a closure report or a claim, with a contact if you added one.
  • Wall notes and wall reports: a note you left on a café’s wall, with a name if you typed one, or a report about a note.

None of these are tied to an account, so the app can’t delete them for you, and we can’t tell which ones are yours unless you tell us.

How to ask

  1. Email libutcafe@raiyanasaral.com with the subject “Delete my data”.
  2. Say what to delete. For a wall note: the café, roughly when you posted, and what it said. For a report: roughly when you sent it, what it said, and the contact you gave, if any.
  3. We’ll reply within 15 days to confirm it’s done, or to ask for more detail if we can’t find it.

What gets deleted

  • The note or report is deleted from our database, not just hidden. That includes any name or contact you gave with it.
  • Deleting a note also deletes any reports other people made about it.
  • Reports are deleted within 12 months anyway, once they’re handled.
  • We may keep an email you sent us, including your request, for as long as we need it to show we handled it. Ask, and we’ll delete that too.

Café details (names, hours, menus, café photos) are about cafés, not about you. If you own a café and want its listing or photos changed or removed, see for café owners.

Anonymous usage counts

Unless you’ve switched it off, the app also sends anonymous counts of a few kinds of taps (such as which cafés are opened) to PostHog. They’re tied only to a random install ID that isn’t linked to you, so we can’t tell which counts are yours. To stop them, go to About → Share anonymous usage; deleting the app resets the random ID. The counts are deleted after 12 months. Details in the privacy policy.

Map data (Mapbox)

Mapbox, which provides the map, receives anonymised usage and location data with a random identifier that isn’t linked to you, so we can’t look it up for you. To stop it, tap the ⓘ on the map and turn off “Mapbox Telemetry”. Mapbox’s own choices are in the Mapbox privacy policy.

If you sign in later

Optional sign-in is being built before Libut Café launches. When it arrives, you’ll be able to delete your account and everything kept in it from inside the app, and this page will say exactly how.
